Walking our talk
This list documents sustainable practices the school is currently involved in.
These provide a sound model of how we 'walk our talk' to client groups. Students are actively involved in as many of the actions as practical.

Curriculum
- Energy leak signs on light switches in dorms, dining room, administration area
- Last out - lights off policy

15 grid connect solar panels installed on dining room roof
with interpretive panel that demonstrates to clients how they work and shows amount of energy being produced

Solar powered waterfall constructed to demonstrate one way in which solar energy can be used
- Program activities , "Nature's Recyclers" and "Edible garden" demonstrate use of a worm farm for composting and recycling
- Program activity, "Nature's Recyclers" addresses the 5 Rs - Refuse, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, Rethink
- Minimal impact practices are demonstrated to students when studying the natural world, eg leaf litter replaced, pond life returned
- Maintaining habitat for tree hollow dependant species by constructing nest boxes and placing them appropriately in the school's stringy bark forest
- Plantation timber used in nest box construction

Students and staff are asked to use recycling facilities
for paper and containers
- Causes of global warming posters in all dormitories

Student duty roster includes emptying kitchen foodscraps into compost tumblers twice a day
